Julie is a photographer and lecturer who lives in Dayton, Ohio. Her signature body of work, UMBRA, explores the artist’s childhood in the Midwest, and how growing up in American Suburbia intersects with her favorite fantasy and horror films.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
After a comprehensive interview, Julie and I developed a storytelling technique based on her artistic/film influences: Surreal Americana (David Lynch), the tension between home and fantasy (The Wizard of Oz), and how fear invades the supposed safety of the suburbs (Halloween).
